Tenants and property owners will have a chance to learn more about their rights and responsibilities, with a workshop being held in the Waitaki next week.

Stronger Waitaki and Tenancy Services will hold the workshop at Oamaru Public Library and livestream it to Waihemo Service Centre, in Palmerston on Wednesday (March 13) between 6-7pm.

In the hour, support and access to tenancy and housing resources will be provided, and attendees will have the chance to ask questions.

Waitaki District Council Housing Policy and Strategy specialist Dr Kayla Stewart said the evening is part of the council’s Healthy Homes for All community housing strategy which was adopted in 2022.

“It’s important for tenants and property owners to understand their rights and responsibilities, especially around meeting tenants’ needs and rental housing regulations,” she said.

“Some tenants may also be keen to ask questions about the healthy homes standards, particularly as we move into the colder months.”
