It's the first of December, the first day of Summer and for some, the first day of the party season.

Tonight (Friday) we Light up the Tree - Oamaru with sausage sizzle, lots of food and drink options and family friendly entertainment from 7pm til lights on at 9.15pm.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Crop Swap Oamaru is on at Ardgowan Hall, 10am with sharing from 10.30am, plus Conversation with an artist | John Mitchell upstairs in the Forrester Gallery with his new exhibition 'Gravel Road at 2pm.

The Duntroon Community Dance kicks off at 7pm and in Oamaru, we have the long awaited, Sweet Caroline Tour: A Tribute to Neil Diamond on at the Opera House (tickets and details on the links).

On Sunday, don't forget to check out the Oamaru Farmers Market and if you're on the prowl for Christmas presents, check out Presence on Harbour - Gift Store and Housekeepers Design - both open and packed with awesome gifts at every price point. After that, why not head over to Excelsior Pentanque at the Centennial Sports Ground, on from 1-3pm and all welcome.
