Two people have died in a crash south of Ōamaru this morning.

The crash, which was reported to emergency services at about 9am this morning (Monday, January 29), happened on Ōamaru-Alma Road (State Highway One), near Browns Road, Alma.

A truck was one of the vehicles involved in the incident, a police media statement said.

The Serious Crash Unit and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Team are investigating, and the road remains closed until further notice.

Diversions are in place and motorists should expect delays.
