A warning of strong wind gusts has been issued for North Otago and Dunedin until 12 noon today (July 5).

A MetService Orange Strong Wind Warning was issued this morning, predicting gales gusting up to 120km/h in exposed places, with the potential to damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures.

Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

The warning is in place until lunchtime today, when it is expected to be downgraded.
