Homeowners eligible for money back on their Waitaki District Council rates, have until June 30 to apply.
Waitaki District Council staff have identified more than 300 ratepayers believed to be eligible for a rebate this year, and reminders were posted to them last week.
Rebates can be calculated via the Rates Rebate Calculator provided by the Government. The rebate is applied to the combined total of Waitaki District Council rates, and the Otago Regional Council or Environment Canterbury rates.
Forms can be collected from the counter at the council’s Thames Street office, or sent out to anyone who enquires by phone or email.
The amount of rebate you receive is income dependent, with rebates beginning at $187 for those earning $43,751, through to a $750 rebate for those earning $39,251 or less.
Proof of income is required as part of the application process, which can be provided by Work and Income New Zealand, or found by totalling your payslips for the year, or through Inland Revenue.
It does not matter if you are behind on your rates, you can still apply for the rebate for the 2023/24 financial year by Sunday, June 30.
