Duntroon residents are feeling flush, with the opening of their new toilet block in the town on Wednesday (December 21).
The long-awaited building was officially opened by Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher following many years of hard work from Duntroon volunteers and members of the Duntroon and Districts Development Association (DDDA).
The block is located on the opposite side of State Highway 83 from the previous toilets, next to Vanished World Fossil Centre.
The original building, which had its south-facing walls adorned by the work of Duntroon-based artist Burns Pollock, has been decommissioned, but the artwork will remain.
DDDA chairman Owen King has also crafted a bench out of recycled kauri from the old pharmacy building, which sits near the new toilets.
