The MetService has issued a heavy rain warning for Marlborough, Canterbury and North Otago through to 9pm tonight (Sunday 23 July)

A slow-moving low east of New Zealand directs a moist easterly flow over the South Island, bringing heavy rain to Marlborough, Canterbury and North Otago.

It is expected that periods of heavy rain could cause rainfall amounts that approach warning criteria.

MetService has a heavy rain warning and watch in force.
