Ōamaru Rotary’s Toyarama is being postponed.
The proposed fundraiser, which was supposed to open on Friday (August 18) came off the back of ever-successful Bookarama, as a possible way to recycle used toys and raise money for the community at the same time.
Organiser Ele Ludemann said there had been a good response to Rotary’s request for toys, games, puzzles, sports equipment and baby gear, but they didn’t yet have enough for the sale.
“We’re delighted by the wide variety and high quality of donations but we’re a bit short on quantity, so are postponing the sale until we have enough.
“We’ll keep monitoring what’s collected and give plenty of notice when we’ve got a date.”
Ele said donations include 150 toys from the Waitaki Multicultural playgroup, which is "incredibly generous".
“All the toys are in very good condition and are a very welcome addition to our collection.”
A new date for the sale will be announced when enough toys have been collected, and people can still drop them into North Otago Motor Group and Simpsons Flooring Xtra.
Proceeds from the sale will go to help local community projects.
