Ōamaru’s Steampunk NZ Festival has not lost any of its puff since the last celebrations.
The King’s Birthday Weekend event was a fantastical jumble of colour, noise and invention, with something for everyone, which left organisers and participants alike happily exhausted.
One of the organisers, Lea Campbell, was “just over the moon” with how things went.
She could not pick one highlight out of a weekend of continual highlights, and everything went so well, people were already telling her they couldn’t wait to come back next year, she said.
“Everybody’s had a fantastic time.”
While she needed a breather before contemplating next year’s festival, the theme Botanical Mechanical had already been decided on, so people could get working on their costumes.
Gateway to Steampunk central - the steel gates were made by Apex Engineering, and signalled “something good is going to happen”, when they were officially opened on the Friday night, organiser Lea Campbell said.
