A whole world of career possibilities has been opened up to Ōamaru’s young people, with the Inzone Careers Coach in town yesterday (Thursday, July 27).

The coach parked up in the farmers’ market car park, on the corner of Wansbeck and Tyne Streets, and was in town as part of the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs Roadshow, with pupils bussed in from around North Otago secondary schools throughout the day.

It contains 26 Interactive screens, loaded with about 150 different careers, Inzone logistics manager Regan Doake said.

“There’s a couple of options on there that include going to university, but 90% of them are not university-based.”

Each career option in the kiosks included a short film of a personal story, which really connected with the users, he said.

“It’s like a digital brochure,” Regan said. “Which is a different way of getting careers out there.”

The Careers Coach and Inzone is the brainchild of Regan’s parents, Peter and Donna Doake.

The company also has 50 stand alone kiosks set up in high schools and community libraries around New Zealand.

The coach travels all over the country, but when not on the move, it tends to be centrally based in Picton. It was in Waimate on Wednesday, and Timaru and Ashburton before that.

Regan said the bus was primarily targeted towards school students, but could be used by anyone looking for new career opportunities.

The Mayors Taskforce for Jobs Roadshow is running over a several months, and is taking the coach country-wide.
