Well the last week has certainly been a cold one in the Waitaki and the week ahead will have a similar feel overall - it may even be a few degrees warmer!


The Waitaki coast should be fine today with a high of 13 C. Expect some high cloud to build in the afternoon with a shower or two possible later, dropping to 4 C overnight.



Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with a few showers possibly lurking around, clearing later and dropping to 2 C overnight.


Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will likely be sunny and cool with light winds tending northerly from Thursday. Highs nudge 11 C, down to 2 or 3 C at night.

Up in the Mackenzie Basin, Omarama will continue its run of cold days with a (very) optimistic high of 8 C forecast today, dropping to - 3 C tonight. Tuesday will be partly cloudy with a possible shower around the foothills and 40km/h southwesterlies easing to 20 km/h southerlies.

Wednesday will be fine with the usual morning frosts and areas of fog. Southerlies will die out, dropping to a low temperature of - 4 C at night.

Thursday looks like it will be fine and cold with strong to gale northerlies developing, and Friday will also be fine and cold with northwesterlies.
