Over the weekend a couple of fronts are set to move northwards over both the North and South Islands, though most of the rain associated with each will be contained to the west, leaving the east mostly fine.
Both daytime and overnight temperatures will make a slight recovery as these fronts move over.
So on the coast Oamaru has fine conditions today (Friday 11th) with a high of 9 deg C, down to a crisp 1C overnight.
Saturday will dawn fine with morning frosts, with high cloud building later in the afternoon. Northerlies should ease in the evening after a high of 11 deg C, dropping down to 3C at night.

Sunday is looking fine with light winds, but cloud will move in again in the evening. A daytime maximum of 13 deg C will be welcome after recent cold daytime temperatures, down to a low of 3C.
At this stage Monday will start with showers, clearing in the morning but the cloud will stick around. Northerlies will develop from the afternoon. The high should hit 10 deg C, with an overnight low of 2C.
Up in the hinterland, Omarama is also fine today with light winds and a high of 9 deg C, down to -2C tonight.
Cloud will increase overnight into Saturday morning, with scattered showers developing around lunchtime, mainly around the Main Divide. Snow will be possible to 1000 metres. A high of 10 deg C, down to 0C Saturday night.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy with isolated showers developing. Expect rain about the Divide, falling as snow to 1200 metres. Northwesterlies will become strong, with a high of 12 deg C, down to -2C at night.
Monday is looking mostly cloudy with isolated showers at this stage. The forecast high will be 8 deg C, down to -3 Monday night.
