For North Otago women (and brave men) who love a good whine with their good wine, this is the show for you.

The North Otago Whine Tour - Ladies Comedy Night, is coming to the Ōamaru Opera House Inkbox on Saturday, June 15.

Described as “relatable comedy by women, about women and for women, and brave men”, the Ōamaru show is coming off the back of sellout shows in Wānaka, Queenstown and Invercargill last year.

Headlined by Ōtepoti-based award-winning comedian, performer and producer Harriet Moir, the show is hosted by another award-winning comedian Nicola Brown and features some of the country's funniest women in Marea Colombo, Monty Montgomery, Demelza Daisy Ray and Troubadette.

The Ladies Comedy Night shows are always big sellers, and Harriet puts this down to the fact that historically, comedy has been very male dominated. 

“So it is super refreshing and exciting for women to be able to enjoy relatable comedy that is specifically about them and for them,” she says.

Add to that the “genuine need and love of a girls’ night out” , the R18 comedy show is a great entertainment option.

“You can grab a drink and a bite beforehand, enjoy some relatively inexpensive big belly laughs and be home by 10pm! What’s not to love?”

And just because the lineup is all women, doesn't mean the audience has to be.
