The Ahuriri Community Board is now complete.

Last week (February 15) Mike King, Alan Pont and Karen Turner gave their declarations of office to Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher, to become new members of the board.

The three were elected unopposed through a by-election held at the end of last year, being the only three nominations for three empty seats.

The by-election was required after Stephen Dally and Calum Reid were the only two nominated in the local government elections in October last year. They were declared elected unopposed, leaving the three vacancies.

Nominations to fill those vacancies opened on November 24 and closed on December 22.

Local elections are held every three years, with the public deciding who represents them on the district council, community boards and licensing trusts.
