It’s time to get registered for this year’s Multi Colour Dash, happening at the end of the month.

The annual event is being held at Oamaru Racecourse, on October 28, at 11am.

All money raised goes towards Sporting Chance, which allows children who don’t have access to sports gear or money for subs, to participate in sport, Sport Waitaki regional co-ordinator Pip Sutton said.

“That's kind of our biggest draw card is to continue to do it, because you know, participating in sport is getting more and more expensive, and we're struggling to keep up.

“All of the money that's raised goes back to our community,” she said.

The Colour Dash involves a 5km or 2km obstacle course fun run, and participants get colour thrown on them at a number of stations around the course. People are encouraged to wear white, for maximum effect, and there are a few new obstacles this year.

The event costs $10 per person to enter, or $30 for a family of four ($5 for each extra child), and registrations can be made online or in person at the Waitaki Recreation Centre. People can also register on the day for an extra cost.

“Again, we have the support of so many local businesses,” Pip said.

And the Ōamaru Rapid Relief Team will again provide a barbeque, with free food for everyone.

“It’s a fun morning out, you’re done by lunchtime, and it's a free lunch with the kids.”
