Two people were arrested on drug and firearms charges in Ōamaru on Friday (March 24).
A 25-year-old man was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, and a 26-year-old woman with possession of methamphetamine and utensils, after police carried out a search warrant at a Tees St address, acting Ōamaru Detective Sergeant Tony Woodbridge said.
The man appeared in Timaru District Court on Saturday (March 25) and is due to reappear in
Ōamaru District Court on Wednesday, April 5.
The woman is due to appear in Ōamaru District Court on Wednesday (March 29).
Police, including the Dunedin armed offender squad, police negotiators, and dog units assisted in carrying out the search warrant.
Det Sgt Woodbridge thanked the Ōamaru community for their assistance.
