The Waitaki district Health Services (Oamaru Hospital), are seeking a Registered Midwife to work 0.6FTE (48 hours per fortnight) within our amazing team!

About the role

Located in a rural setting, you will work in a close knit, friendly team, whilst providing safe, high-quality care for women and their whanau in planning to birth at our primary birthing unit, or at

home. 


The team also provides antenatal and postnatal care to women who have given birth at Queen Mary Hospital in Dunedin, either by choice or by necessity.


Working alongside two other pairs in a flexible fortnightly rotating roster, the role allows for a healthy work/life balance, with the security of being a salaried employee with paid annual and sick leave entitlements. 


The successful applicant will have access to a vehicle and be provided with all equipment necessary to enable optimal care whilst on-call.


About you

You will be an enthusiastic midwife who wishes to work in a rural environment that values teamwork, excellence in midwifery practice and women-centred care. You will hold high professional standards, be self-motivated, and able to manage your own caseload; all whilst building strong community relationships.


Requirements:

  • Be a qualified midwife with a current annual practicing certificate issued by the Midwifery Council of NZ 
  • Have a thorough understanding of LMC care in the Midwifery Council of NZ’s Whānuitanga o Te Mahi | Scope of Practice
  • Be competent in the use of the Guidelines for Consultation with Obstetric and Related Services (Referral Guidelines)
  • Hold a current Full Drivers licence
  • Be able to pass a Police Vetting check in line with the Childrens Act 2014 requirements
