Waitaki District Health Services Ltd. (Oamaru Hospital) has a vacancy for a New Zealand Registered Dietitian to join our Outpatients team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience.


Hours of work are 0.8-1.0FTE (64 - 80 hours per fortnight), between Monday and Friday.


You will be seeing a range of patients in both an outpatient and inpatient setting, and there is also flexibility to conduct clinics and follow-ups via Telehealth (Microsoft Teams). You will be skilled in

the dictation, documentation and communication of patient outcomes and have strong interpersonal skills. 


You will have experience in providing guidance and advice on nutritional interventions for a variety of adult and paediatric conditions and will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, especially our Diabetes Nurses. 


Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Clinical experience and knowledge across inpatient and outpatient settings
  • A knowledge of dietetic intervention techniques, including patient centred goal planning, malnutrition diagnosis and interventions, and acute caseload management
  • Registered dietitian with the New Zealand Dietitians Board with a current annual practicing certificate
  • Hold an endorsed prescriber scope of practice
  • Evidence/Best practice focused 


A current Annual Practicing Certificate and full Driver Licence are essential.
