About the Role

In this role, you will be working with an experienced and capable team within the Regulatory Services unit. You will be delivering animal management services and will have the chance to develop new skills while delivering a range of compliance and enforcement activities within the Waitaki district.

This is a full-time position; however, you will be required to undertake rostered after-hours duties, including some weekend callouts and answering after-hours enquiries. This role offers plenty of variety as no two days are the same.

About You

This role requires someone with:

  • Proven knowledge and experience of working with dogs and stock control.
  • The ability to apply a range of legislation to different regulatory scenarios to maintain compliance.
  • Investigations and/or auditing experience, including conducting interviews and recording statements.
  • The ability to exercise judgement and use discretion to make sound decisions.
  • A calm disposition along with conflict-resolution and de-escalation skills
  • A full clean driver's license, as a dedicated Council vehicle would be available.

Animal handling and confidence to manage dogs or wandering stock are important, but to be considered for this role you must also be able to demonstrate how you meet the above requirements.

What is in it for You?

Council offers a comprehensive range of benefits - including:

  • Flexible work options
  • Five days sick leave upon commencement
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Group discount medical insurance
  • Income protection insurance
  • Discounted BP fuel card
  • Discounted gym membership.
