Are you an experienced water professional wanting to make a positive contribution to one of New Zealand's most scenic and vibrant districts?

As a Project Engineer within Waitaki District Council's Water Services Team, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient and effective delivery of capital projects for water, wastewater and stormwater to sustain and improve our community's quality of life.

The team

Our Water Services Team is a close-knit group of engineering professionals who pride themselves on close collaboration, high performance and continuous improvement.

As a Project Engineer based in our Oamaru office, you will be responsible for managing projects assigned from the team's capital works programme by the Senior Projects Engineer, and for ensuring these are cost-effectively designed, planned, procured, constructed, and commissioned.

You will get the satisfaction that comes from managing projects through to completion and being part of an organisation that makes a significant contribution to the wellbeing of Waitaki's community.

About you

We want to hear from you if you have:

• A NZDipEng (Civil) qualification or NZCE (Civil) qualification or relevant, equivalent qualification
• Experience in the Three Waters sector
• Experience in successfully managing projects
• Proven contract management skills
• Experience with contract documents preparation, tender evaluation, and contractor supervision
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills

Salary range: $74,000 - $92,000

The district is full of fun and interesting pastimes, or you could choose to relax and chill out by a valley lake or at one of the great local beaches. Those looking for more action can travel the cycle tracks, water sports, fishing or hunting. Younger family members will benefit from excellent schools in a friendly community.

Leading from the ‘olde worlde' Victorian charm of Harbour Street, there is a pleasant walk around the peaceful harbour setting that leads to colonies of cormorants, seals and the famous ‘little blue penguins'. To add to this, no traffic jams.

This friendly town and district has most of what you need and a short drive through the Waitaki Valley leads to smaller towns, vineyards, ski resorts and beautiful alpine activities. For a change of scene, nearby towns such as Timaru and Dunedin are easily accessible.
