Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role


As a specialist, you will be instrumental in optimising Council's procurement and contract management processes, ensuring they deliver maximum value and mitigate risks for the community. As a technical advisor, you'll work closely with teams to develop procurement plans and draft well-balanced contracts. You'll also educate staff and stakeholders on evolving procurement practices, contributing to cost savings and efficiency improvements aligned with Council's strategic goals.


Your expertise in handling complex contractual issues will provide strategic guidance, helping the Council navigate challenges and ensure legally sound decisions. You'll also take a leadership role in driving collaborative efforts across Council to enhance organisational efficiencies and integrate best practices into procurement strategies. Your expertise and dedication will help Council deliver more effective and responsive services, fostering trust and delivering sustainable value to our community.


He aha taau e kawe mai | What you'll bring

  • Relevant Qualifications and Experience: A relevant degree or equivalent qualifications plus over 10 years of industry experience.
  • Procurement and Contract Knowledge: Strong understanding of best practice procurement and the NZS suite of contracts, a willingness to apply Council's procurement policy and proven experience in tender processes and contract writing.
  • Legislative and Policy Expertise: Solid knowledge of local government legislation, policies, and procedures, with the ability to provide impartial contract advice and apply contract principles effectively.
  • Adaptability and Multitasking: Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities, managing multiple assignments simultaneously while remaining flexible.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The salary for this position will commence between $92,339 and $108,635 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
