As a Business Analyst, you will support the Council's operations by providing high-quality business analysis across a wide range of projects. Your role involves collaborating with stakeholders to gather and document requirements, assess current processes, solve problems, and propose innovative solutions that align with Council's strategic objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring that business needs are clearly identified and effectively communicated, contributing to the successful implementation of initiatives across the organisation.


You will conduct in-depth research and analysis, leading the creation of business cases, technical documentation, and project proposals. Your work will involve facilitating change management activities, such as preparing user acceptance testing plans, supporting system implementations, and contributing to lessons-learned reviews to enhance future projects. With a focus on continuous improvement, you will help develop solutions that meet operational and strategic goals while ensuring alignment with legislative and regulatory requirements.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Relevant Qualifications and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data science, project management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience. You must have experience in business, process, and systems analysis with hands-on involvement in implementing business solutions end-to-end.
  • Analytical and Technical Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in contemporary analysis methodologies and practices. You will possess strong analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving and the ability to identify areas for improvement. A sound understanding of relevant local government legislation, policies, and procedures is also essential.
  • Strategic Thinking and Reporting: Experience in preparing detailed reports, business cases, and technical specifications that align with Council goals. You will have familiarity with modelling tools and techniques to communicate problems and solutions effectively.
  • Collaboration and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders. You will ensure that business requirements are communicated clearly and that solutions are implemented efficiently.
  • Change Management and Innovation: Experience in managing change processes, including communication planning and user acceptance testing, with the ability to adapt to new challenges and opportunities. You will foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Utu ā-tau | Salary


The salary for this position will commence between $85,644 and $100,758 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
