Dunback has an historic monument to those from the area who gave their lives during overseas conflicts. Starting here, at the junction of SH85 and Ritchies Rd, head along Ritchies Rd which will change quickly from tar seal to gravel.

Going up this long hill there are tough gradients in places but the scenery is fantastic (approx. 8km). The previous 100 years have seen little change in this road – the original route to Macraes Flat. At the intersection of Ritchies Rd and Macraes Rd, turn right and begin the downward leg (approx. 8.5kms).

When Macraes Rd reaches SH85 turn right and continue into the Dunback township where the monument will be on your right.

This ride is not suitable for children. Be very careful and aware of traffic as there is a lot of heavy traffic particularly on portions of the road that are tar sealed.

If you want to try this ride in the reverse order you must be an experienced rider.
