Harbour Street Collective Cafe
8 Harbour Street, South Hill, Oamaru 9400
Open
Monday to Sunday 7.30 - 4pm
This year, Harbour Street Collective will offer a variety of soups during the Waitaki Souper Soup Sipper. All soups will keep you warm and cozy as the days get frostier. Check in often so you don’t miss one of your favourites!
A lot of Kat's produce, are sourced through Ōamaru business Mean Greens, and her pumpkins come from the Farmers’ Market.
Kat moved to Ōamaru to run the cafe, commonly known as The Collective, a few year's ago.
Although she worked in cafes before, this is the first one she has owned, and it’s been a learning curve. She has appreciated the support of the community, she says.
“We have had quite a few locals offer to help in different ways, which is really appreciated.”
She loves the idea of the Souper Soup Sipper at this time of year, as a way for the town’s eateries to collectively come together to try and boost enthusiasm for their businesses in the less busy times.
“Winter is always a bit quieter at the cafe, and the team is looking forward to summer. This event will hopefully get locals out and enjoying Oamaru's cafes and restaurants ahead of the busy season.”
Also Kat is a big fan of soup.
“I think we always have a soup of the day on our menu, because it's nice to accommodate all the different budgets. We're very family friendly, so it's important to me to always have options at different price points, and a soup is a nice way for people to come in and have a warm, filling meal.”
