Pen-y-bryn Lodge has been Oamaru's premium accommodation provider since 1994, when this 1889 architectural landmark was converted from the largest single-storey wooden dwelling in Australasia into the region's first luxury accommodation. 

Under the ownership of local champions James Glucksman and James Boussy since 2010, they have restored and expanded the lodge to ensure it will continue to be the area's most sought-after accommodation for years to come.

Pen-y-bryn's reputation is based not only on its stunning physical setting, but also on the skilled yet unfussy service that your hosts provide. 

On top of that, the cuisine on offer at Pen-y-bryn (only available to in-house guests) rivals that found at Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, yet is always prepared with local ingredients and designed with guests' tastes and dietary requirements in mind.

In 2023 Pen-y-bryn was awarded Qualmark Gold in the Boutique and Lodge category, recognising the lodge's high standards not only in guest accommodation and service, but also in sustainability and community involvement.
