All track ends have sign posts with the track map on them marked “you are here.” Tracks themselves are marked by orange plastic triangles on trees. Road sections have large orange triangles attached to posts.
Dogs normally allowed: 1080 has been used in the forest on occasion. It is strongly advised dogs are not taken in the forest following 1080 drops. Pay attention to any signage at beginning of tracks.

This circuit is a great option for families and those just after a shorter walk. The round trip is from the carpark off Reid Rd and the track is well-formed with lots of steps. Look out for the cave around the halfway point.

Mostly bush track but Podocarp round trip includes 0.8km road walk between top of Swallows and the bottom of Podocarp loop from Reid Rd carpark. Look out for the big podocarp trees as you walk through the bush with half a dozen stream crossings to add to the mix.

This time from the Breakneck Rd gate, the Hoods Creek track begins with an approx. 2km road-walk from the carpark to track entrance. There are 13 stream crossings (each way) and a waterfall which you climb up beside on a 5m steel ladder.
