“At Edna McCulloch Kindergarten, our over-arching vision is to develop responsive and reciprocal relationships between tamariki, kaiako, whānau and our community, by respecting and valuing the richness of culture within our community of learners and acknowledging the dual heritage of Aotearoa.
Whanaungatanga/relationships, Manaakitanga/respect, Confidence/Maia and Diversity are our current curriculum priorities and underpin our teaching and learning across the program. As a result our tamariki are developing the skills to be self-directed learners who are able to manage themselves and understand how they can support their friends and the community as a whole along the way.
Our daily mindfulness practice supports children to grow their emotional wellbeing and resiliency for their focused sustained learning. The concept of Tuākana/Teina (where more experienced learners support less experienced ākonga) is actively encouraged and supported in our day.”
