Cape Wanbrow Walks

Cape Wanbrow Walks

A spectacular walk taking you up to the aptly named Lookout Point, here you can look over the harbour and out to the Pacific Ocean. This walk is steep going up and can be slippery after rain, alternatively, drive to Lookout Point and take a walk on the track around the Cape and visit a former gun emplacement.

Time : 30 min to 5 hours

Distance : 2.1 km – 8 km

The Cape Wanbrow walking track (part of the South Hill walkway) offers magnificent coastal views as well as the chance for visitors to see a former gun emplacement. You can bring the dog for a walk or if biking is more your thing the cape offers mountain bike tracks as well.

This walk can also be easily linked up with other Ōamaru walks, such as the Harbourside Walkway or South Hill walk.

Access is via Test Street or the lookout at Selwyn Street.
