UNDER PRESSURE: A WONDERLAB COMMUNITY TE TAIAO | ENVIRONMENT EXHIBITION - ends Sun May 19

Fri 12 Apr 2024, 10:00 PM - Sun 19 May 2024, 4:00 AM

Forrester Gallery

Our environment and climate are facing challenges. In this wonderlab exhibition we asked people in our community who are taking action to be our guest curators. Our curators have chosen artwork from the Forrester Gallery permanent collection featuring nga rākau | trees.

Why nga rākau? They create the air we breathe, improve the air quality, provide habitats for creatures, produce food, and help stabilise land. They also make us happy – spiritually and culturally. From climbing to swinging in them, or even just walking under their dappled light. One of the most revered Māori atua | gods is Tane Mahuta | God of the Forests and Birds. Find out why our guest curators think nga rākau are important to their mahi | work. The title of this exhibition is from a Jim Adams’ artwork which features in the exhibition.
