RESCHEDULED SHOW FROM OCTOBER 4

Dunedin musican David Burchell is teaming up with Polly Sussex from Auckland to perform music for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord in concert in Oamaru.

Polly plays a 6 string bass-viol, a copy of a seventeenth-century German one, and also plays the much smaller treble viol, a copy of an early eighteenth-century French treble. David plays a modern copy of an early Flemish harpsichord. Together, they hope to thrill their audiences with rarely heard instruments and repertoire. The music includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach and his son Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach, and the great French harpsichordist Francois Couperin. Also featured is music by the less well-known musician Carl Friedrich Abel, who wrote exclusively for the 6 string bass-viol.

The performance is at St Luke's Church, on Friday 4 October at 7.30pm
