SAT 22nd FEBRUARY 2025.

This full-day course is ideal for those new to riding on a learner licence or on a Class 6 restricted licence riding LAMS-approved machines. It is also ideal if you have been sitting on your restricted licence for a while, or wanting to undertake training for an overseas licence conversation.

The days starts with a classroom session where we’ll cover all the skills needed to become a better and safer rider. You will be shown videos of different riding techniques such as emergency braking, slow speed control, cornering, and more. We will discuss a range of topics including observation, road positioning & hazard awareness, designed to make you a more competent rider. We will also discuss pre-ride bike checks and protective riding year.

Your helmet will be fitted with communication equipment before heading out onto the road.

The morning ride will usually start off with slow speed practice, usually in a car park. Slow speed control is a great skill to learn and will give you more confidence on the road - any moron can twist the throttle up to 100 kph, at which point all you have is a moron riding at 100 kph. Slow speed skills are addictive and fun, and you will soon be hooked.

Braking practice is next. Not much point riding a motorcycle if you don’t know how to stop correctly. Learning to brake effectively in an emergency situation has the added advantage of maybe saving your life one day.

You will then practice some riding in some built up zones. Your instructor will be riding with you, keeping an eye on things and offering advice along the way. They may lead to demonstrate at times, and they will follow you other times. You will receive instruction as you ride so this makes it a great way of learning.

Getting peckish? Time for lunch, we’ll stop at a cafe somewhere along the way, but bring a sandwich if you’d prefer.

After a break we usually head into higher speed zones. To focus on cornering lines, observational skills, hazard detection, control of the bike and how to manage different situations.

Around 3pm you will likely head back into town to reinforce those urban skills and then return to base or find somewhere comfortable for a debrief. You will be given feedback on your riding, advice on what you should be working on next, and discuss license progression and further training. Riders usually want to know details about the Restricted or Full license test, so any questions, fire away. Remember all of our instructors are fully qualified CBTA accessors so you are probably talking to the person who will eventually test you.

Bring waterproofs if you have them, the course will run in rain.

Note. The Bronze course is designed around the requirements of the CBTA 6R and 6F assessments. It covers ALL of the required skills, so is great preparation if you’re preparing to sit either.

Only $20 course fee for the day.
