A rare opportunity to explore part of Macraes Mine, climb onto a haul truck, discover gold in rock samples and learn all about modern gold mining.

Join us at Macraes Mine this March to celebrate 35 years since our first gold pour.

The Macraes Community Open Day will be a unique opportunity for you to tour our mine. For the first time in over five years, we’ll take the public into our open pit to see our fleet of haul trucks and diggers in action. Our bus tours will also take you around our processing plant, where you’ll learn how we crush ore and separate the gold.  

In the Macraes Village, our community celebration carnival will bring our underground mine to the surface. This is where you will be able to get up close to an underground bogger, sit inside a refuge chamber, and study ore samples for signs of visible gold.

Community Celebration Carnival:

You don’t need to book a ticket to come along to our Community Celebration Carnival.

In the historic mining town of Macraes, there will be a carnival-like atmosphere with information tents, a chance to sit inside an underground refuge chamber and see an underground bogger up close, as well as entertainment, jumping castles, and plenty of food and drink.

You will be able to purchase raffle tickets at the Community Celebration Carnival to go into the draw to win:

1. Unique opportunity for you and a friend to attend a gold pour at our Macraes Processing Plant 
2. A chance for you and a friend to explore our Golden Point Underground Mine on an exclusive tour with our Underground team
3. The exciting opportunity to attend an Open Pit blast and haul truck ride along

Tickets will only be available to purchase on the day at the Macraes Oval.

All proceeds will go towards KidsCan.

Please note that prizes are subject to criteria, as there are health and safety requirements that apply to everyone who enters our underground mine, open pit and processing plant.

A ticket aboard the Macraes Hop on Hop Off Bus is the only way to step inside our mine and climb onto one of our enormous haul trucks.

After your visit to our Open Pit, the tour will take you to the Processing Plant, where you’ll learn all about how we crush ore and liberate the gold.

Every booking will go into a draw to win one private helicopter ride over Macraes Mine for six people.
