After seeing an advert about an ice bath challenge supporting Motor Neurone Disease, a couple of the Weston Fire Brigade thought this would be a fun way to bring the community together to raise funds and awareness for a good cause.

Held on their weekly training night, it will serve two purposes and from 6pm til 7pm the brigade’s portable dam will be filled with water and ice for the community and fellow firefighters to jump on in exchange for a donation to Motor Neurone Disease.

A sausage sizzle will be running to help fundraise and fellow firefighters will be happy to chat to anyone keen on joining in the fun as a volunteer firefighter!

Weston extended the challenge to local brigades and so far Kakanui and Waitaki have confirmed their attendance while Oamaru are rallying the crew.

The Weston Fire Brigade hope to make a bit of splash for a horribly cruel disease and hope the wider Waitaki community will come on down from 6pm til 7pm to support it and have some fun!
