Maggie Covell explores mental health, trauma, reproductive rights and body autonomy through her interactive art installation Good as Gold. Informed by personal stories from women across New
Zealand and Australia, Good as Gold invites you to view, to discuss, and to connect through engaging in a meaning-making experience.
Artist talk: Join visual artist Maggie Covell for a discussion about her latest exhibition Good As Gold, an interactive installation with a focus on mental health, and how this work connects to her MFA research project, Hidden in Plain Sight. The discussion will also look at ‘social-hybrid’ practice in which the audience forms a crucial part of the artistic-process. This practice-led inquiry also operates in multiple environments including the digital territories, and public spaces where artworks function as ‘creative interventions’ as a means to disrupt and foster alternative conversations—-the installation then becomes a site of exchange, one which engages with the political landscape.
